Youth Gozo was held on the last weekend of November. The yearly set of events, organised by GUG (Gozo University Group) in collaboration with Aġenzija Żgħażagħ this year focused on sexual health, with a Gozitan dimension.

On Friday several Gozitan youth organisations participated in the yearly Youth Expo, held at Lucky Jack’s in Victoria. They included the Victoria Scout Group, Xagħra Scout Group, Gozo Youth Council, GUG and YT4E (Youth for the Environment).

These organisations showcased the work they did during the year, while also presenting new projects they are working on. A prominent project was presented to the attending youths by the Gozo Youth Council, iLead (see www. gozoyouthcouncil.com for more information).

On Saturday, GUG organised a conference on sexual health and Gozo. Contributing to the conference were Maria Attard, from Dar Ġużeppa Debono, and Maria Abela from the GU Clinic. Several youths from different backgrounds attended, where they learned more about sexual health.

On the day, several discussions were held, the main being on whether there should be a GU Clinic in Gozo, for easier STD testing for Gozitans. Those present agreed that this was necessary, and would be a step forward with regards to sexual health policy in Gozo.

This year, with Youth Gozo, GUG decided to embark on a different kind of project to try and start filling a gap that exists in Gozo.

“We hope to continue organising related events with the relevant stakeholders, so that we can offer something of value to Gozitan youth,” GUG said.
