Il-Kunċert tal-Milied by Chorus Urbanus – the 17th in a series of the Yuletide concerts – is being held at St George’s Basilica on Saturday at 8pm.
The concert will be marking the opening of the celebratory year commemorating the choir’s 40th anniversary.
Chorus Urbanus was established on Christmas Eve during the Midnight Mass at St George’s Basilica, and this perhaps explains the special place Christmas has always had in the hearts of the choir members, particularly those that formed part of the original choristers 40 years ago.
This year’s concert is being billed ‘A Celebration of International Carols’ and will feature a number of traditional and popular carols originating from different parts of the world.
Chorus Urbanus will be accompanied by the Urbanus Festive Brass, a brass ensemble specifically assembled for this concert.
Most of the carols are being performed on arrangements by Mro John Galea who will be directing the ensemble and the choir.
The Christmas concert by Chorus Urbanus is being organised in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund. For this purpose, a collection will be held during the concert. Entrance for the concert is free of charge and patrons are requested to be seated 15 minutes before the concert begins.
