A four-goal blitz from Partick Thistle floored high-flying Inverness 4-0 and brought their long unbeaten home run to a shuddering halt, yesterday.
Two efforts from Ryan Stevenson and second-half goals from Gary Fraser and Conrad Balatoni gave Thistle their second win over Inverness this season and prevented the Caley Jags from moving level with Premiership leaders Celtic who face bottom side St Mirren today.
One of the most impressive sides this season, few would have banked on the 4-0 scoreline and it will no doubt infuriate the Inverness camp, who had won four of their previous five competitive matches.
Inverness had also been unbeaten at home since April.
Aberdeen moved level with third-placed Dundee United in the standings thanks to two first-half goals from Adam Rooney at Tannadice.
Rooney struck in 19 and 34 minutes to give Derek McInnes’ side a lead which they were never going to give up as it moved them joint third in the table with off-form United.
Hamilton returned to winning ways as they held on for a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dundee.
Tony Andreu put Hamilton ahead early on before a stunner from Mickael Antoine-Curier doubled their advantage.
Half-time substitute Greg Stewart dragged Dundee back into the match but despite some late pressure, the Dens Park men could not salvage a point.
