Medina Restaurant in Mdina and Caviar and Bull in St George’s Bay were named best overall restaurants during The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants awards ceremony, held at the Radisson Blu Golden Sands Resort.

The event celebrated the outstanding achievement of Malta and Gozo’s top survey-rated restaurants, as voted by diners.

Out of over 1,800 restaurants, 150 are to be included in the latest edition of the guide and on www.restaurants-malta.com.

The results were announced by Lisa Grech, managing director of The Definitive(ly) Good Guide Co., and the awards presented by Justice Minister Owen Bonnici, Sergio Bellizzi from HSBC, Stephen Ellul from Charles Grech Co. Ltd and Alfred Cuschieri of Continental Purchasing, on behalf of Villeroy & Boch, who supplied the commemorative award plates.

The restaurant survey was conducted last September, with over 1,700 results returned by reviewers who dined out around twice a week.

This is equivalent to over 176,800 dining experiences in a year. Of the respondents, 47 per cent were women and 53 per cent were men.

The new edition of the eating guide, launched on the evening, features 39 new restaurants.

Restaurants were chosen from the highest-rated results, both overall and in the various price categories, taking into account not only the overall rating but also individual food, service and ambience ratings, the number of people rating, value for money, comments and other data from the survey.

The results of the survey can be found in the 2015 edition of the guide, which is available for purchase online at €8.

The guide is also available from leading stationers and bookshops.
