• When a flight is overbooked, the airline must first seek for volunteers.
• Air passengers who willingly accept not to board the flight in exchange for benefits cannot claim monetary compensation.
• Air passengers who are denied boarding are entitled to a financial compensation that varies from €125 to €600, depending on the length of the flight and when passengers arrive at their destination.
• Air passengers should contact the enforcement body in the country where they were denied boarding if the airline does not give them financial compensation.
