The world now has an official yoga day which, it is claimed, can help tackle world problems including climate change.

The UN General Assembly - which already has 118 awareness-raising days of observance - approved a resolution proclaiming June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, after a call from Indian prime minister Narendra Modi during his speech to the world body's annual assembly of world leaders in September.

Mr Modi promoted it as a holistic way of life that stresses "harmony between man and nature".

He said: "Countless people across the world made yoga an integral part of their lives. Congrats to them!"
