Reference is made to the letter entitled ‘Malta in a time warp’ (December 10).

Transport Malta, being the entity responsible for the maintenance of most of the clocks on the Maltese and Gozitan road network, has a maintenance agreement in place with a contractor to have these clocks serviced and maintained regularly.

However, it has become increasingly evident that most of these street clocks have sustained considerable damage and are now considered to be beyond economical repair.

Transport Malta is issuing a tender for the purchase and replacement of new clocks in the coming days.
