Borussia Monchengladbach, Villarreal and Torino booked their place in the last 32 of the Europa League yesterday.

Gladbach sealed top spot in Group A thanks to a 3-0 victory at home to FC Zurich.

Patrick Herrmann tucked home the first just after half-an-hour and Branimir Hrgota added two more early in the second half, the second a cheeky scooped finished over goalkeeper David Da Costa.

Villarreal finished a point behind Gladbach after first-half goals from Gerard Moreno and Luciano Vietto earned a 2-0 win away to Apollon.

Torino completed their Group B commitments in emphatic fashion as they came from behind to beat nine-man FC Copenhagen 5-1 to finish second behind Brugge.

Daniel Amartey put the Danes ahead after six minutes, but Josef Martinez levelled on 15 minutes.

Things went from bad to worse for the hosts when Mikael Antonsson was sent off after half-an-hour and Mathias Jorgensen saw red 10 minutes later for a foul in the area.

Amauri netted the resulting penalty and three more Torino goals inside the opening 10 minutes of the second half ended the match as a contest.

Brugge held on to top spot as they edged a 2-1 home win over HJK.

Dnipro claimed the second qualifying spot in Group F after a 1-0 win over St Etienne in Ukraine.

Artem Fedetskiy’s goal midway through the second half lifted the hosts, who had started the day bottom of the pool, above their opponents and Azerbi side Qarabag, who drew 0-0 at home to Inter.

Salzburg completed Group D with five wins and a draw thanks to a 5-1 win over Astra while second-placed Celtic lost a thriller 4-3 to Dynamo Zagreb.

Dinamo Moscow made it six wins from six in Group E as Aleksei Ionov’s 90th-minute winner earned a 1-0 success at second-placed PSV.

Panathinaikos drew 1-1 at home to Estoril in the other game.

Besiktas’s game at home to Tottenham was suspended twice after the floodlights failed in each half before the Turkish side won 1-0.

The lights went out eight minutes after the match started in Istanbul and Swedish referee Stefan Johannesson took the players off the pitch for 15 minutes before play resumed.

With minutes remaining the lights failed again, plunging the Ataturk Stadium into darkness once more and halting play for more than 10 minutes before the last three minutes were played.

Sevilla through

Holders Sevilla joined Group G winners Feyenoord in the knock-out stages following a 1-0 victory over Croatian side Rijeka.

Denis Suarez’s 20th minute goal was enough for the Spaniards to finish second in the group.

In Group H, Wolfsburg followed Everton in the next round after they sealed second place with a 3-0 win over Lille in France.

Young Boys beat Sparta Prague 1-0 to pip the Czechs to second spot in Group I and qualification to the next round.

Danish side Aalborg are also through despite a 2-0 defeat at Rio Ave as their direct rivals Steaua Bucharest lost to Group J winners Dynamo Kiev 2-0.

Guingamp were the other side to progress after they beat direct rivals PAOK to second spot in Group K after a 2-1 win in Salonika.
