The lower part of Swieqi has been regaled with two beautiful phenomena to appreciate.

The first is the fenced lower park, with lofty trees, gym equipment and benches, which. in the early morning. resounds with the loud but beautiful chirping of rare birds, roosting in their high trees.

A most resounding, evocative, peaceful and enthralling experience. Poetry in the making.

The second is beyond words.

It is a life-size statue of Our Lady of Fatima, which is half hidden behind a fence in the front garden of a corner house located in a side street. Extremely beautiful to behold and very spiritual, with a beautiful colour, mostly in a single beige of ineffable beauty.

A bit like the real thing. It beckons the viewer to return, to pray fervently, to ask for forgiveness and for graces and for plenty of good will and positive action.

A sight and a presence not to be missed by the Blessed Virgin Mary’s many devotees.
