Former Hamrun Spartans players Roderick Fenech and Massimo Grima have been banned for life for match-fixing, the Malta FA have announced.

The case goes back to season 2012/13 when the two former defenders and two former committee members of Hamrun Spartans, Elton Borg and Julian Friggieri, were charged with manipulating matches in the football Premier League.

Borg and Friggieri were subsequently banned for life after admitting the charges and, after a long inquiry, the same punishment was imposed on Fenech, who was the captain of Hamrun Spartans at the time, and Grima, a former Malta international.
