UEFA has fined Malta FA €8,000 after the match delegate for the Malta-Italy Euro 2016 qualifier noted in his report that a number of spectators in the South Stand opted to watch the game from the upper gangway.

MFA president Norman Darmanin Demajo explained that these fans had been seated in the lower part of the South Stand where the view of the pitch was not good.

Darmanin Demajo said aerial photographs of the National Stadium during the Malta-Italy qualifier on October 13 showed a packed venue on a nice occasion for Maltese football but the UEFA delegate took issue with the fans who left their assigned seats to see the game from the gangway.

The Malta FA can't appeal the fine.
