After last year’s success, where more than €1800 were raised in aid of l-Istrina, the Rural Festivities Unit within the Parliamentary Secretariat for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights teamed up to organise a Christmas Village at Għammieri on Sunday 14th  December 2014, between 10am and 7pm, again to raise money for l-Istrina

The event will kick off with an animated mass with the participation of the Żejtun MUSEUM choir. Thanks to the various sponsors, the Rural Festivities Unit Team were able to come up with a programme full of activities ideal for all the family.  Local artists will be invited, and  Amber, this year’s Eurovision winner will be the special guest.

Stalls selling various types of food, tradition crafts, sweets, various gifts, toys, Christmas decorations and products made at Għammieri, such as herbs and honey will also be available.

Mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and the traditional Maltese Christmas drink l-Imbuljuta will be also available to buy together with various books at reduced prices and the recent cookery book published by the Community Chest Fund - ‘Tisjir mill-Qalb’.

Father Christmas will be present on a sledge led by a real live deer and  Bubu the friendly llama will also be present.

This Christmas Village will also have a VIP lounge were guests can meet and also have photos taken with famous local actors from TV shows such as ‘il-Klikka’, ‘it-Tfal’, ‘Salib it-Toroq’, ‘Katrina’, ‘Ċaqqufa’, ‘l-Oskur’, ‘Ghost Squad’, ‘Klassi Għalina’, ‘Becky’, ‘Ħbieb u Għedewwa’, ‘Deċeduti’ and ‘Simpatiċi’. Ġorġ & Pawlu and Salvu Mallia will also be presents.  Actors, from Teatru Rjal, will give a short demonstration from this year’s pantomime - ‘Syndirella u l-Bestja’.

All schools had the chance to participate in this event. Children from Primary and Secondary Schools from Malta and Gozo were invited to participate in a competition divided into two categories. One category was to create a Christmas card and the other to create Christmas decorations by using recycled material.  The first three winners from each category will be presented with a gift during this event.

All kids attending this event will leave with a small gift in the spirit of Christmas!

The Hon. Roderick Galdes, Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights and Mr. Edgar Preca will be attending.
