The Nationalist Party has issued a sixth recording of phone exchanges in the wake of the shooting involving the driver of Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia, Paul Sheehan. (See last video below)

The incident took place on November 19 when Mr Sheehan fired at least twice at a car driven by Steve Smith after he smashed the ministerial car’s side mirror.

The latest recordings feature a conversation between Acting Police Commissioner Ray Zammit with Paul Sheenan and with another officer.

In the first part Mr Sheehan says he did not know the person who hit the minister's car, buthe was a Maltese driving a car with foreign number plates. In the second the Acting Commissioner asks if any cars were hit. He is told both cars had been hit. He then tells the officer to call a low loader and lock Mr Smith's car in the police garage.

The PN earlier today issued other recordings of  communications between Mr Sheehan and police headquarters.

Mr Sheehan in these recordings again describes how he had fired his gun, and also asks to speak to the minister, who at the time was at police headquarters. Mr Sheehan is also heard warning the other driver, Stephen Smith, that he would shoot at him if he moves.

In another exchange earlier, Mr Sheehan had claimed the minister was with him.

The PN also issued other recordings yesterday.
