Championship basement dwellers Blackpool secured just their second win of the season with a 1-0 defeat of Birmingham at Bloomfield Road.
The Seasiders are still five points adrift at the foot of the table but a Steve Davies strike gave Lee Clark his first victory as manager after arriving at the end of October.
Huddersfield also threw the form book out of the window to end Brentford’s five-match winning run with a 2-1 home triumph at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Terriers had picked up just one point from their last four fixtures but Sean Scannell’s opener and a Jake Bidwell own goal gave them victory, even though Jonathan Douglas pulled one back.
That setback saw the Bees slip to fifth in the table as the other high-flyers all prevailed, including leaders Derby, who cruised to a 3-0 win against struggling Brighton.
