Grade 11 and final year students at San Anton School, L-Imselliet, informally met employers and exhibitors at a careers convention held at the school.

The event, organised for the fourth time by the school’s Social and Emotional Literacy Department, helped the students discover jobs, professions and opportunities that await them once they leave school, and served to further motivate them in their studies.

A number former students also met the students and spoke about their respective professions.

Department head Ian Refalo said: “Apart from the obvious benefits that students acquire from an event such as this, they also learn how to ask questions, how to greet people and how to discern between one job and another.

“It is also an exercise in self-discovery as the students find out what appeals to them and equally what doesn’t.

“The event gave students another opportunity to further explore their career choices at a time when decisions on their future become even more pressing.”
