The director of the Maltese movie Simshar, Rebecca Cremona, has been signed up by a top Hollywood management company as the film bids to win an Oscar nomination.

The company, Management 360, represents a number of A-List writers, directors and actors.

Simshar has been accepted for consideration in the 87th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film.

The movie weaves in the true story of the Simshar fishing boat tragedy of 2008, in which four people died, with a fictional episode involving immigrants on the high seas.

Meanwhile, the movie will be back at the Embassy Cinemas in Valletta from January 7 for a limited run of two weeks, the film’s Facebook page announced.
