An exhibition entitled Gozo Anniversaries is taking place at Gozo’s national archives. It commemorates the archives’ inauguration 25 years ago and other important anniversaries related to the island being celebrated this year. The exhibition will remain open until the end of the year.

The archives were inaugurated by then Gozo Minister Anton Tabone and then Education Minster Ugo Mifsud-Bonnici on November 24, 1989.

At the opening of the exhibition, Gozo Minister Anton Refalo spoke about the archive’s importance to safeguard historical documents regarding Gozo’s past and to provide information for researchers on many aspects of local history. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech said the institution was an antidote to the dementia that tends to delete past collective memory.

An exhibition catalogue and a special commemorative card were issued for the occasion and are available on site.
