Sixth form students from St Edward’s College, Cottonera, joined some 500 students and teachers from other EU countries at a Euroscola day at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

At the event, the students joined multilingual working groups to discuss topics such as environment and renewable energy, migration and integration, youth employment, freedom of information and civic culture, measures to combat food wastage and the future of Europe.

Euroscola was set up by the European Parliament in 1989. Each year it welcomes thousands of 16- to 18-year-old students from EU members states to spend a day at the Parliament in Strasbourg experiencing the EU decision-making work done by MEPs. They engage in debates in the hemicycle, conduct negotiations with colleagues, vote and adopt resolutions on topical European issues.

The session attended by the Maltese students was the 15th Euroscola day of the 19 planned to be held this year.
