The Opposition is alleging that the planning authority board broke the law in the last week when it heard the case regarding the application by Patrick Dalli to sanction illegalities on a Żejtun farmhouse, where work was taking place in spite of an enforcement notice.

The law prohibits the board to continue considering an application to sanction when the enforcement notice served on a site is breached.

PN spokesman for planning Ryan Callus told a news conference: “It was scandalous that no member of the board asked or remarked or raised doubts over the illegal works carried out on site while the application was being considered.”

The board, he said, was a new one appointed by the Prime Minister some two weeks ago.

Mr Callus said the opposition will be presenting a letter to the Ombudsman asking his office to investigate the alleged breach.

The letter may be read in the pdf link below. The Times of Malta report referred to in the letter can be read here.
