Environment Minister Leo Brincat yesterday filed a libel suit against Nationalist Party newspaper In-Nazzjon over a story which made claims over his ministry’s air travel costs.

The newspaper claimed that the minister had spent more than €1 million on flights in 19 months, excluding any other travel costs.

It also claimed that the minister was refusing to reply to several parliamentary questions on this subject.

The minister claimed that the article was libellous and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Lawyer Aaron Mifsud Bonnici signed the libel suit.
