The government has welcomed data by the European statistics agency showing that in November, Malta had the highest level of economic confidence in the eurozone.

The level of optimism in Malta was 12% higher than the European average.

The government noted that the level of confidence in Malta had dropped by 25% under the former government.

The current level of optimism among Maltese companies was higher than in Europe in all sectors, with respondents expecting growth in production and therefore planning to engage more people.

The government said it had noted, in particular, a change of sentiment in the construction sector. Business sentiment in the retail sector was also high.
