It is about time that the police revisit the aggressive driving manner that is used when escorting the President’s car.

On three occasions in as many days, I came across the President’s car being escorted by police motorcycle outriders and, on each occasion, they drive far too aggressively when this is evidently not necessary.

One can accept when an emergency vehicle requires urgent access, as it stands a good chance of saving a life, but this sort of emergency does not apply to the President’s car.

The two police outriders came through at such speed, with sirens blaring, that oncoming cars were made to climb the pavement to allow the President’s car through.

This was a example of how not to drive and was bad enough to give someone a heart attack. It was reminiscent of escorting a President of a banana republic and not the President of the Republic of Malta!
