I am no religious fundamentalist or extremist. However, I could not keep back from airing this complaint of mine for the attention of PBS.

TVM has been airing a number of episodes of Mrs Brown’s Boys. I watched most of them, but lately I have been growing disgusted with them due to a heavy dose of vulgar language, offensive religious innuendos and unequivocal anti-Catholic jibes.

And just to make sure that the Catholic faith is subjected to mockery, there is a visual aid in the background with a number of portraits and pictures depicting the Virgin Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

I honestly augur that I am not the only one feeling somewhat offended and hurt by what was supposed to be promoted as light entertainment for all audiences.

I am not clamouring for it to be taken off the air, but at least a warning guidance should precede each episode that certain language and scenes call for an adult and mature audience. Intentionally hurting one’s religious sentiment exceeds the bounds of democracy and freedom of artistic expression.
