A 12-year-old boy said to have been waving a fake semi-automatic pistol in a playground has died after he was shot by police in a Cleveland park. The incident has sparked public outrage.
He was reportedly pointing a gun at people in the park.
A caller who reported his behaviour to emergency services said the weapon probably wasn't real.
Cleveland's deputy police chief said the officers fired when the boy drew the weapon from his waistband.
He was shot on Saturday but died the next day in hospital.
The two officers involved are on administrative leave pending an inquiry.
