The number of persons registering for work in October stood at 6,596 compared to 7,594 in the corresponding month last year.
 
The National Statistics Office said decreases were recorded among all age groups with the most significant being recorded among those aged 30-44 (-276 registrants).

When compared to October last year, decreases were recorded in all categories of duration of registration with the biggest  being recorded among those who had been registering for employment for less than 21 weeks.

The number of persons with disability registering for work decreased by 47 to 458. Men accounted for 83.8 per cent of the total number of registrants with a disability
