Vienna Airport last week opened a modernised version of its Pier West and C-gates area.

More than 9,500 square metres were refurbished and floors, walls, ceiling, lighting and furnishings were newly designed.

The result is a more open, continuous waiting area for passengers. Seats equipped with power outlets and USB connections enabling mobile phones or laptops to be charged ensure greater comfort, along with unlimited free WLAN internet for travellers.

The results are what we wanted

Extra shops at the gates have been introduced and there is a new restaurant area called the DO & CO Bar, offering Viennese specialities such as schnitzel and coffee, as well as cakes and snacks.

More than 17,000 passengers are handled each day at Pier West, flying with up to 140 aircraft from 15 airlines.

“The modernisation of Pier West was one of the most important projects within our quality strategy, and the results are what we wanted,” said airport management board member Julian Jäger.
