Name: Mercedes-Benz G-Code SUC concept

Debut: Mercedes-Benz Design Centre Beijing opening ceremony

Appearance: While G-Code sounds a lot like a men's eau de toilette, and calling it a 'suck' is asking for trouble, there's a simple appeal to the car's futuristic lines. SUC stands for Sports Utility Coupe (obviously, you non-car person, you), so this is Mercedes' earliest vision for a proper high-rider that will replace the GLA-Class hatchet job. The panels are super-smooth and flowing, and the window layout makes us think it's a pillarless design.

Prediction: The Beijing design studio has only just opened, so they'll probably still be in a design phase like 'order paper for printer', or 'increase 4H pencil quota'. While the German management will be sure to keep on top of the new boys' and girls' progress, this won't translate into a production model for five, six or even seven years. And it'll look almost nothing like this.
