Marjelena, by Leanne Ellul, is being staged at Pjazza Teatre Rjal. Directed by Josette Ciappara and produced by the Bakkanti Troupe, the play deals with Marjelena’s sorrows that are not so different from her joys. What happened in the past seems to haunt her till this very day.

Although she has been abused in different ways in the past, her suffering now does not differ. But who is Marjelena really? What made her become who she is?

Marjelena is the first play penned by Ellul. Taking part are Alison Abela, Louise Fenech, Gilbert Formosa, Mandy Mifsud, Olivia-Ann Marmarà, David Scicluna Giusti and Aldo Zammit.

The play will be staged today and Friday, Saturday and next Sunday at 8pm at Pjazza Teatru Rjal (Green Room indoors). Tickets are available from www.activemalta.com at €15. The age rating is 16+ and the play is endorsed by the Arts Council Malta.
