Residents of Victoria, Gozo are in the process of applying for renewal of their ID cards. The problem is that the clerks handling the renewal applications insist on inputting Rabat instead of Victoria in the space allocated for town/village.

This is incorrect because the name Rabat (in Gozo) does not officially exist and has not done so since 1887. What’s more, one will not find ‘Rabat’ on any map or official document anywhere.

This error was made last time out and to repeat the mistake and end up again with an incorrect national identity card is the ultimate in incompetence.

I tried to challenge it but got the reply “orders from above” and made to sign the form to boot!
