The leader of the Opposition insists on creating storms in a tea cup. One of his latest is his call for the PL to just hand back those eight properties rented to PL committees. Simon Busuttil has even gone so far as to threaten to take the PL to court unless the PL does what he dictates!

What Busuttil and his party are saying means that they want to discriminate between owners of former requisitioned properties which are rented to families or individuals, and owners of similarly requisitioned properties which had been rented not just to political clubs, but also to band clubs, sports clubs, social clubs and so on.

If, according to the leader of the Opposition, such properties “were stolen by the State”, all requisitioned properties were then “stolen by the State” and not just the eight on which Busuttil is trying to create one of his storms in a tea cup.

Of course, as anyone with a modicum of sense can easily see, Busuttil’s latest crusade is mostly fuelled by his urgent need to get Maltese taxpayers to bail out the PN from the financial woes they had got their party into.
