A police van to service the Paceville area as a mobile police station has been prepared and should be on site soon. Home Affairs Minister Manuel Mallia said this evening.

Replying to a Parliamentary question by Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi, Dr Mallia said the van would be placed in the parameters of the town.

Earlier, the minister invited Dr Azzopardi to visit the Marsascala mobile station, which was in a converted mobile home.

Dr Azzopardi had said that during the recent cyclone, the Marsascala unit had moved and water had gone in, leading the staff to become “very worried” about the possibility of electrocution.

Dr Mallia said he had no knowledge of this “quasi-tragedy”, but resented the impression that the government had taken just any container and turned it into a police station.
