The council of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association said today it had full confidence in its president Matthew Pace and his ability and commitment to continue to lead the MHRA for the full term of his tenure.

The council was reacting to a report in Times of Malta yesterday that Mr Pace has been operating a restaurant for several years without a permit to cook on site.

Mr Pace, who was appointed MHRA president in August, is facing legal action by the Malta Tourism Authority for operating 47 Summer Nights in Marsascala without a Class 6 permit that allows him to cook there.

In a statement this afternoon, the MHRA said it noted the report in Times of Malta, which included a statement by Mr Pace.

It also took note of Mr Pace’s presentation to the council on this issue.
