Grant: Ghana expect to have a deal in place for Avram Grant to be their new coach after their final 2015 Nations Cup qualifier on Wednesday. Former Chelsea boss Grant, 59, has been discussing his financial package with the Ghana FA, the BBC said. There had been concerns his Israeli nationality could pose access problems to some North African countries but Ghana FA chief Kwesi Nyantekyie said “that is an issue but the two parties will deal with it.”

Zidane Jr: Enzo Zidane, the eldest son of former France and Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane, made his debut for Real’s B team under his father’s orders in yesterday’s 2-1 win at home to Conquense. Zinedine Zidane is assistant coach of Real Madrid Castilla, who play in the third tier of Spanish soccer (Segunda B), and 19-year-old Enzo, a midfielder, came on as a substitute in the 88th minute of the match in the Spanish capital. Enzo’s younger brothers Luca, Theo and Eliaz are all being groomed in Real’s academy.

Baines: Leighton Baines’s hamstring injury is not as bad as first feared and he could be back in action when Everton play West Ham next weekend. The de-fender pulled out of England’s squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Slovenia and the friendly against Scotland after suffering the injury in training on Friday. But following a scan, Everton have revealed that Baines has a grade one tear, the least serious on the scale of such injuries, and is not expected to be out of action for long.

A-League: Central Coast Mariners scored twice in the final 10 minutes to claim a 2-2 draw at Melbourne City, yesterday. The hosts looked to be coasting to victory when Mate Dugandzic’s 10th-minute strike was added to by Erik Paartalu shortly after half-time. But the Mariners pulled one back through substitute Glen Trifiro before former Malta international John Hutchinson ensured the spoils were shared in the final minute.
