Visitors to one of Britain’s most famous bridges, in London, will get a better view of the attraction thanks to a €1.268 million improvement.

The money has been spent on a new glass floor across Tower Bridge’s high-level walkways 138ft above the River Thames.

Its west walkway floor has already been unveiled and the east walkway opening is set for December 1.

The floor will allow visitors a view of the bridge lifts and is the most significant change since the Tower Bridge Experience opening in 1982.

The exhibition attracts about 600,000 people a year and the installation, provided by the City of London Corporation, is expected to lead to an increase in visitor numbers.

Taking eight years to construct, Tower Bridge was officially opened in 1894 by the Prince and Princess of Wales (the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra).
