To deny the Holocaust in Germany is a crime punishable by a prison sentence. So how come here in Malta we have someone twisting documented historical facts and gets away with it.

Our forefathers had to endure atrocities during the French occupation of Malta in 1798/1800, the ransack of public and private property, the systematic rape of women, the sacrileges of our churches, the death and misery of our people in those horrible times. All this is very well documented and no one has any right to try to make us believe this is pure fantasy or that nothing of the sort ever happened.

This was the last time in our long and eventful history that the enemy set foot on these islands. As far as I know, someone who sided with the enemy was labelled a Jacobin and a traitor by his fellow countrymen.

So if a Jacobin has so much at heart all that is French, with all the French decorations on his chest, maybe he can intervene for us and get us back some of the valuables the French in reality stole from Malta – such as, for example, the de Valette diamond dagger Napoleon carried with him till his death.

Maybe, who knows, he may add another medal to his collection! Or perhaps, better still, we should ignore this storyteller and let him enjoy his illusions.
