Whereas I greatly enjoyed Ramona Depares’s article (Institutionalism 1 – Art 0, November 4), the last line was a non sequitur which perplexed me, though it is a conclusion typical and symptomatic of the Maltese. The removal of the paintings happened in Valletta: there are plenty of other cities one can live in which have no problem housing C215’s offerings.

It’s Malta the article was talking about, after all, not the whole planet and while no country is ideal, there are many, many other places which hold art in higher regard than Malta.

It’s not even that hard, after all, seeing how in Malta art is held in no regard at all.

Unless it’s the mediocre ‘art’ of a friend, the ‘masterpiece’ which is quaint but hurts no one, and has no profound meaning, then everybody’s a patron.
