Citadel campaign for Malta Service Dogs Foundation

Citadel Insurance plc has launched a campaign to raise €15,000 to pay for the training of a service dog, Bailey.

“A service dog literally changes the life of its user. Visually impaired persons are assisted in a variety of ways by their dog, such as picking up keys, fetching the person’s wallet to even inserting a credit card in an ATM,” Angela Tabone, Citadel managing director, said.

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives for 2014, entitled ‘Giving to Life, it feels good’, Citadel organised a children’s art competition in aid of the Service Dogs Malta Foundation, an NGO which provides trained service dogs for Maltese visually impaired, deaf, disabled and autistic persons.

Around 60 children entered the competition and 12 artworks were selected which have now been published in Citadel’s 2015 calendar. The calendar will be offered to the public who donate €4.66 towards funding Bailey’s training. The donations may be made by sending an SMS on 50617905 with name and email address.

Entrepreneurial Skills Pass launched

Junior Achievement (Young Enterprise) Malta Foundation has launched the Entrepreneurial Skills Pass (ESP). The ESP is a new international qualification that certifies students have had a real entrepreneurship experience and have gained the necessary knowledge, skills and competences to start a business or to be successfully employed.

Students across Europe started their entrepreneurial experience through participation in The Company Programme, which is a programme organised by JA-YE Malta. Working in groups and under the guidance of business volunteers and teachers, students set up their mini-companies and learn what managing a real enterprise means.

Along with this experience participating students will this year have the opportunity to prove how their competencies have changed during the entrepreneurial experience. The ESP exam is recognised by Eurochambres, the European Chamber of Commerce and is also endorsed by the Malta Chamber of Commerce Enterprise and Industry.
