From time to time, people complain about the lack of cleanliness and carelessly kept public toilets (‘Disgusting public toilet’, November 7).

Whoever is responsible certainly is not doing the job right. The other day, I needed to use the public toilet at Triq il- Ferrovija, Ħamrun and it was in the same state John Keenan and Catherine Robertson described the one at Islet Promenade, Buġibba: taps broken, no soap, no dryer, no toilet paper and stained tiles.

If broken items are replaced and the place is decently kept, I’m sure it would remain so, however, if things are left to deteriorate, then how can we expect to call ourselves civilised?

Local councils please note.
