The former Nationalist Party mayor of Lija, Ian Castaldi Paris, was interviewed on One TV on November 4.
What emerged from that interview was highly interesting. Castaldi Paris admitted that, prior to the 2013, general election he was very sceptical about Joseph Muscat’s abilities as prime minister if the Labour Party were to win the election.
After the election, he noted that Muscat had indeed started to deliver on his promises. However, what I found most intriguing in that interview were his comments on Simon Busuttil and “those around him”. The former mayor unequivocally described them as “an extension of GonziPN”.
The most revealing part was, of course, when Castaldi Paris said that a number of Nationalist MPs had told him, in confidence, that they shared his views on the present leadership of the PN.
I have not yet seen any denial coming from the whole parliamentary group of the PN about his very serious allegation.
