An electric car to be used by Parliament when it moves to the new building was this morning presented to Speaker Anglu Farrugia by Transport Minister Joe Mizzi.

The car’s use of clean energy will complement the policy adopted in the new Palriament building where infrastructural technology to help reduce energy consumption is being used.

The officials who would be using the car are to be trained to make the best use of it.

The car and the training form part of the Life+ project DemoEV, through which 24 electric cars were bought and 90 charging points set up.

More than 100 people as well as a number of companies and organisations took part in demonstrations which started earlier this year and which will be concluded in December next year.
