CABS this afternoon welcomed a court decision to fine two men €1,500 each for illegal bird trapping.

The trappers were filmed by CABS volunteers last December when they tried to catch protected Lapwings close to Fomm ir-Rih.

The footage presented as evidence in court showed one of the men holding a protected Lapwing in his hand.

In another case heard today, a hunter from Ta´ Santi was found guilty of hunting outside the season on May 1, 2014. He was ordered to pay a €1,000 fine.
