The parliamentary National Audit Office Committee has again put off a decision to devolve land in Pembroke to China for the building for an embassy  after no plans were tabled for its consideration.

In the committee’s last sitting a fortnight ago, the members had postponed a decision on the devolution, requesting the embassy to present an outline plan of the proposed embassy.

Parliamentary Secretary for Planning Michael Falzon reported to the committee that the Chinese embassy had committed in writing that it would follow all the necessary laws and procedures,

The embassy said, however, that it could not present any plans since these would be drawn up once the land was purchased.

Tonio Fenech (PN) said that he would refer the matter to the Opposition parliamentary group.
