This year’s Poppy Day collection by the Poppy Appeal Fund is being held until November 16.

The aim of this fundraising activity is the relief of hardship and distress of all ex-servicemen and their families.

Last year €19,328.20 were collected. The first annual Poppy Appeal, held on November 11, 1921, was inspired by a poem, In Flanders Fields, written by Joel McCrae.

The fund is always looking for energetic people to help raise money. Those who want to help out should call the British Legion – Malta Branch (111, Melita Street, Valletta) on 2123 6283 or e-mail rblmalta.net.
