In only 18 months, the Nationalist Party’s regeneration exercise – including the setting up of 10 policy forums with the participation of highly competent people – culminated in the Idea Malta Convention which can be described as a turning point.

As the chairwoman of the convention, Rosette Thake said, the PN should stand for correctness.

This is what Simon Busuttil strongly stressed in his very convincing speech when addressing an audience from all walks of life, reflecting the new inclusive Nationalist Party.

Busuttil spoke of the importance of wealth creation as opposed to nepotism and clientelism. He is the leader of the future – a welcome fresh alternative to an administration led by a Prime Minister who has not kept his word over meritocracy and transparency, notwithstanding his promise of a new style of leadership.

The majority of the people had believed in Busuttil’s vision for a Malta within Europe with all its benefits – today acknowledged by all. He did not let them down.

His consistency, honesty and competence provide a dynamic alternative to the inconsistencies we are being presented with today.
