Pieta' and Qormi fought out a drab 0-0 at the Victor Tedesco Stadium.

In the first clear-cut opportunity after 12 minutes, Andreson sliced open the Pieta'defence with a slick ball to send Temile through but his usual composure in front of goal deserted him and David Cassar made a crucial stop.

There was little in the way of creative football for much of the next 15 minutes before Francis broke the boredom with a thunderbolt that flew over the bar.

After 38 minutes, Rafael Xavier Zacaris managed to stay on his feet and shackle the challenge of Mauricio Mazzetti on his way in the Qormi box but then drove wide from an inviting position.

The start of the second half was an underwhelming and uneventful as the first as Coleiro introduced Malcolm Licari at the expense of Kyle Cesare.

On the hour mark, Qormi created a second clear-cut chance when Effiong’s shot took a deflection off Leonardo Fortunato and crashed against the woodwork. However that failed to spark the match into life.

After 76 minutes, out of nothing, Anderson created a chance as he stole possession in the centre channel before unleashing a fierce shot towards the far post but Cassar leapt to his left to beat the ball away.
