Video interviews of youths talking about their careers, talents, social life and fashion are being featured on The Zone at www.timesofmalta.com/thezone. This week new interviews with racing car driver Mauro Portelli and European Studies Organisation president Martina Micallef will be uploaded.

Portelli talks to The Zone’s Matthew Cassar about his passion for racing, where he learned to race and how he prepares for races. He says that good racers need to know their car well, look after it, understand how the engines work, be focused, determined, train well and keep fit.

Besides participating in race competitions abroad, Portelli is also a regular on the local scene. Even though he finds that staying in Malta and racing locally has its limitations, he hopes the sport will become more popular and be considered as important as any other sport.

Cassar also meets Martina Micallef to learn more about the European Studies Organisation (ESO), which caters for students pursuing a career in the area of international relations or European studies. Micallef talks about the setting up of the organisation, what it focuses on, what it has done so far and why students should join ESO.
