The outcomes of the Streets project were presented at an event entitled ‘Integrated transport Malta-Sicily’ at the Grand Hotel Excelsior, Floriana.

The EU-funded project’s main aim is to improve transport between Malta and Sicily. It aims to enhance the integration of multimodal transport between the two islands in support of the TEN-T Corridor 5. After developing a joint mapping of the transport network, the project is identifying bottlenecks between Malta and Sicily and developing a web-GIS platform of the involved territories.

During the event, posters were displayed showing outcomes such as statistical results, maps of the road network, SWOT analysis as well as air and sea connections between Malta and Sicily.

Transport Malta and the University of Malta are the local partners in the project.
