1. All passenger lifts installed in Malta should be registered with the MCCAA. Otherwise, a non-registered lift is operating illegally.

2. All passenger lifts should be subjected to a thorough examination every 10 years. So all lifts older than 10 years should have been so examined. If no such examination has been carried out, the lift is again operating illegally.

3. All passenger lifts should be subjected to regular preventive inspections. If not, a lift can be dangerous and pose a serious risk to users.

4. All passenger lifts should be under the responsibility of a person to ensure that regular preventive inspections and the necessary maintenance are carried out.

5. If the lift was installed after mid-2002, the CE mark should appear in the lift cabin.

More information on lifts may be found at http://mccaa.org.mt/en/acab-list .
