Another edition of the European Film Festival will be organised by the European Commission Representation in Malta with the collaboration of the European embassies in Malta and Rome.

The festival will be launched on Friday. Between Saturday and November 30 a different film will be screened every evening at Europe House, St Paul Street, Valletta.

This 12 th edition of the European Film Festival is being held to mark the 10th anniversary of Malta’s EU membership.

The festival builds on the success of the previous editions by presenting a vast array of European films, closing off with a selection of Maltese short films.

Seventeen films from 16 countries – Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia and Spain – will be screened, giving local audiences a taste of Europe’s diversity and creativity.

A total of seven short films from Malta will be shown. These are L’Att by Neville Attard, Dark Places by Matt Stroud, Eleġija by Kenneth Scicluna, Especial by Chantelle Demicoli and Marie-Claire Sammut, L-Imbatt by Neville Attard, The Maltese Fighter by Joshua Cassar Gaspar and Trickle by James Moffett.

This year’s festival covers a wide selection of different film genres with an exciting variety of cinematography, visually recounting stories of love, hatred, courage and resolve for an audience which, from one edition to another, reaches new peaks of appreciation for European film-making.

Entrance to the festival is free, but donations in aid of Hospice Malta are welcome. All screenings will start at 6.30pm and run without interval. Seats will be available on a first come,first served basis.
