In addition to our previous reply, you may wish to note that Louis Attard was charged with offences identical to those issued against other persons who were found to have breached the same provisions of the law in similar circumstances.

However, we reiterate that the charges preferred on arraignment by the police need to be based on law and supported by evidence gathered during the investigative stage of that particular case.

Editorial note: The point of the news item was to note that while Mr Attard’s colleagues were charged in their capacity as public officers/servants, he was not.
